It is the non-surgical procedure of the removal of the hardening debris that accumulates around the teeth and is harmful to the gums. This debris is referred to as plaque and calculus. The procedure consists of two parts; Fisrt the SCALING, which is the manual or mechanical removal of the debris on the tooth surface, while the second part known as POLISHING is the buffering of the tooth surface with fluoride containing paste leaving the tooth surface clean, smooth and shining thus making it difficult for bacteria to stick to and cause harm to the teeth and gums.

This is the dentistry tailored towards children between the ages of birth and puberty and it is essentially so because their dentition is different from that of the adult and the treatment as well.
There is a general misconception that the 'baby teeth' does not require the same care as adult teeth but this is not the case as healthy primary teeth helps children eat comfortable, smile confidently and speak clearly, furthermore these 'milk teeth' lay the foundation for healthy adult teeth.
It is recommended that a parent schedule a child's first dental visit as soon as their first tooth appears, followed by at least two visits a year.

At Odontoville Dental Clinics, we provide sedation for both anxious children and adults, also individuals with special needs. There are some people with dental phobia, thus unable to sit through a routine procedure. For such patients, our dentist will determine how good a candidate such a patient is and plan the treatment in conjunction with our consultant anaesthetist.
While general anaesthesia is safe and effective, the sedation option allows the patient to remain conscious and responsive to the dentist but nevertheless, relaxed during the procedure. Sedation dentistry attracts an additional cost.
Unforseen dental problems can create tension and anxiety, that is why at Odontoville Dental Clinics, we have provided the opportunity to access dental services outside the regular office hours. What do we mean when we say Dental Emergencies?
Any severe, persistent dental pain, which includes toothache, fractured tooth or jaw, partially or totally knocked out tooth, oral tissue lacerations and sports related oral injury. Cases such as a lost filling or broken tooth (painless) can wait to be attended to during office hours.
Tips on handling a knocked out tooth
A favourable recovery for thr knocked out tooth is time-bound. Timely intervention is required for the tooth to be saved under this circumstance.
If this happens and the tooth is still hanging from the tooth socket, do not attempt to pull it out, just call the clinic number immediately, but if the tooth has fallen out of the socket, avoid touching the roots and gently rinse with water. If you can place the tooth back in the socket, do it gently and contact the clinic's emergency line, but if not, store the tooth in a container filled with milk and if not available, store in salt water mixture and head to the clinic.
This involves the diagnosis and treatment of oral infections and lesions. The mouth can serve as a mirror of the other parts of the body such that diseases affecting other organs can manifest as an oral lesion.
